Gettysburg in Washington, D.C. through Lutheran College Washington Semester
Program in Brief:
Students earn a full semester of academic credit at Lutheran College Washington Semester by participating in an internship (four days per week), two academic courses, community service projects and program excursions in virtually any field of study. The on-campus reader for this program is Nancy Joyner, Executive Director of LCWS.
Orientation:
All students participate in an orientation on arrival in Washington.
Location:
Washington DC, our nation's capitol, is a wonderful place to spend the semester, and arguably the best place to get some in depth work experience. On this program, students take advantage of their work placement, community service projects, classes, and other activities to get to know this fascinating city.
Living Arrangements:
Students live in fully-furnished condominiums located just
across the Potomac River from Washington - just a two-minute ride on the metro system into the city center!
Courses and Credit:
All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to 1 internship and 2 classes on this program.
Program Dates:
Early September - Mid-December, or Mid-January to late April.
Eligibility Requirements:
All students in good standing may apply.
Program Costs:
Students pay the Gettysburg comprehensive fee (in 2008-2009 it is $23,350 per semester) and receive tuition, fees, room, board and airfare.
Application Deadlines:
March 15 (for Fall Semester)
October 15 (for Spring Semester)
