Fall, Spring or Year ~ All Majors ~ Group Program
Program in Brief:
This semester or year program is designed for students in every major. Students choose to attend one of four Australian universities and take classes with Australian students. All students, regardless which Australian university they choose to attend must take at least one Australian Studies class.
Orientation:
There is a mandatory Send-Off Session at Gettysburg College for all off campus studies students the semester prior to the program. An on-site orientation is held in Australia upon arrival.
Location:
James Cook University has two sites - one outside Townsville in Northern Queensland, the other in Cairns; University of Queensland is located in Brisbane; University of Melbourne is located in Melbourne, Victoria; and University of Wollongong is located in Wollongong, New South Wales. Gettysburg College offers these programs in partnership with Arcadia University and Butler University.
Living Arrangements:
All students live in residential colleges or shared apartments.
Courses and Credits:
All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to: 50 units at Melbourne, 4 classes that are worth 6 or 8 credits each at Wollongong, 8 credits at Queensland, 4 classes that are worth 3 or 4 credits each at James Cook
Program Dates:
Mid-February through late-June or mid-July through late-November.
Eligibility Requirements:
Requirements vary, but all require at least 2.8
Program Cost:
Students pay the Gettysburg comprehensive fee (for 2008-2009 it is $23,350 per semester) and receive tuition, room, board, round trip airfare from California to Australia, and program excursions.
