Gettysburg at the United Nations through Drew University

Program in Brief:

This program offers students the opportunity to learn about the UN, by being there! Students spend Tuesdays and Thursdays in New York attending presentations by people from within the UN, and other agencies associated with the UN. In addition, students take two elective courses at the Drew campus in Madison, New Jersey, and have the option of doing an internship as well.

Orientation:

All students participate in an orientation on arrival at Drew University.

Location:

Drew University is located in Madison, New Jersey, on 186 wooded acres, and is appropriately nicknamed "The Forest." Located 30 miles west of Manhattan, students have easy access to all that New York City has to offer!

Living Arrangements:

All students live in Drew University residence halls, and take meals on the Drew campus.

Courses and Credit:

All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to 4 classes on this program - two required courses (PSci 170/The United Nations System and the International Community, and PSci 172/Research Seminar on the United Nations) plus two electives from Drew's regular course offerings.

Program Dates:

Early September through Mid-December.

Eligibility Requirements:

The program is open to juniors and seniors, regardless of major, with a grade point average of 2.70 or better. An introductory course in either international relations, foreign policy, or international organization is required.

Program Costs:

Students pay the Gettysburg comprehensive fee (in 2008-2009 it is $23,350 per semester) and receive tuition, room, board, transportation to and from New York two days per week . Visiting students are provided with personal computers, modems and telephones for their use during the semester

Application Deadlines:

March 15 (for Fall Semester)
