Gettysburg in England - London and Lancaster University

Program in Brief:
This fall semester interdisciplinary studies program begins with a four-week pre-session seminar in either London or Lancaster. The seminar in London is taught by a Gettysburg faculty member. After the seminar, all students enroll at Lancaster University, where they study for the fall term or academic year.
Orientation:
There is a mandatory Send-Off Session at Gettysburg College for all off campus studies students the semester prior to the program. An on-site orientation is held in England upon arrival.
Location:
Lancaster University is a top ranking British University and many of its faculty members are internationally recognized in their fields.
Living Arrangements:
Students attending the London seminar are housed in shared rooms in a student hotel in central London, taking meals in the hotel's subsidized restaurant. In Lancaster during the seminar and for the semester, students live in a single-study bedrooms in shared apartments. Kitchens are available for students to prepare their meals.
Courses and Credits:
All off campus programs are worth 4 Gettysburg Course Units. In order to receive this, students must take a "full load of courses" which is equal to 1 seminar plus 12 Lancaster credits for the fall program. Full year students typically take 1 seminar plus 28 Lancaster credits over the course of the year.
Program Dates:
Late August through mid-December for fall or late August through mid-June for the academic year.
Eligibility Requirements:
Any student with 2.5 GPA or higher and at least sophomore status may apply.
Program Cost:
Students pay the Gettysburg comprehensive fee (in 2008-2009 it is $23,350 per semester) and receive tuition, room, board, airfare and program excursions.
