Gettysburg College views semester-long global study as a vital part of our students' undergraduate experience. Knowledgeable advisors and faculty mentors help students choose a program that meets their academic goals and personal needs. Credit transfer is handled prior to departure through an on-line course approval process linked to our registrar. An on-campus orientation program compliments the more in-depth orientations in which our students participate upon arrival. Health, safety, cultural differences, and logistical information are covered at both orientations.
Students are supported on-site by our Program Partners' expert staff, who are knowledgeable about local culture. Gettysburg College continues to have contact with our off campus students throughout their time away. Registration processes, housing selection and campus updates keep our off campus students part of our on-campus community.
Upon returning to campus, credit transfer and re-entry programming help make our students' transition as smooth as possible. We realize the transformative nature of the work we do, and Gettysburg is prepared to help our students channel their new interests in language learning, cultural interaction, and new academic pursuits in exciting ways. Students returning to campus take advantage of a broad range of opportunities offered to them by our office, and also through our Center for Career Development, our Center for Public Service, and our Dean for Fellowship and Scholarship Advising.
Global study is often singled out as "THE BEST" experience of our students' career at Gettysburg....and that's saying a lot, given the special place that Gettysburg College is.
