Step #1 - The Petition and Course Approval Process

       Once you have chosen a program, you will need to complete the Petition and Course Approval Process first, and then complete your program application.  Students must be approved by Gettysburg College, before completing the Program Application.

       ALL students must petition to the Gettysburg College Academic Standing Committee through the Office of Off Campus Studies for permission to study off campus. This step must be completed prior to applying for any off campus program. What type of program did you choose?

Affiliated Programs                                                       

1) Pick up a Petition and Course Approval Form from the shelves in the Office of Off Campus Studies.

2) Find the course descriptions on your program website, or by contacting your program website, or by contacting your program sponsor

3) Contact the department in which  you hope to receive credit.

4) Follow all the directions on the forms.  Details regarding the Academica Standing Committee and the Course Approval Standing Committee as well as the Petition Process are Outlined on these forms.

Suggested Programs/Other

Petition and Course Approval Deadlines for ALL programs are the same:

OCTOBER 1^st - for spring semester programs

MARCH 1^st - for fall semester or academic year programs

       Submit the above forms to OCS by these dates regardless of what your particular Program Application deadline is.  If you do not have your Petition and Course Approval submitted by these deadlines, you will have to wait until the next semester to study off campus.  Also, make sure you know what your Program Application Deadline is - it might be the same as, later than or even earlier than our petition deadline - you must meet both deadlines in order to participate!
