Step 2: Application
All off campus programs have an application form for admission. Now that you have received approval from Gettysburg College to study off campus, you must complete and submit your program application. Follow the checklist below to complete this step!
1. Get an application
Application forms for all Affiliated programs can be found in the Office of Off Campus Studies Resource library. Most off campus programs will have an application form in their informational brochure, so many applications for Suggested programs can be found there as well. If you cannot locate an application form in the Office of Off Campus Studies, please call your program sponsor directly to receive an application by mail. Also, many programs now have applications on their web site. Save yourself the wait and get a form electronically!
2. Complete the application
Most application forms are self-explanatory. If you have questions about the application for an Affiliated program, please call the Office of Off Campus Studies for assistance. If you have questions about an application for a Suggested program, please call the program sponsor directly. Please note Program Application deadlines vary - make sure you know what your program deadline is!
3. Do you need Photographs?
Many application forms require photographs--from one to ten photos! Students sometimes have these pictures taken at AAA Travel (1275 York Rd., 334-1155) or at Gettysburg Photo (168 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg - Phone: 334-5414). Some applications will accept high school senior pictures, but not all, so please read the application requirements carefully regarding size and number of photographs. No program accepts computer print-outs instead of actual photos.
4. Complete a Transcript Release Form
All applications require a current academic transcript. Please complete and submit a Transcript Release form to the Off Campus Studies Drop Box, and we will send your transcript with your completed application. Transcript Release Forms can be found on the shelves in the Office of Off Campus Studies or at the Registrar's Office.
5. Submit the application to the Office of Off Campus Studies
ALL applications, whether for Affiliated, Suggested or Other programs, must be submitted to the Office of Off Campus Studies for mailing. Applications can be dropped off in the Off Campus Studies Drop Box. Completed applications will be mailed by our office within three days of receipt. Note: it is essential to have your letters of reference completed and returned directly to the Office of Off Campus Studies rather than having them mailed directly to your program. If the references are mailed directly to your program, our office will consider that your application is incomplete, and it will not be mailed.
6. Call the Office of Off Campus Studies
Is your application complete? Was it mailed? If you are curious about these answers, please call the Office of Off Campus Studies (x6866) three business days after you submit it, and we will update you on the status of your application.
7. W-A-I-T.....
The hardest part of the application process is waiting to hear if you have been accepted! You will usually hear about your admission to an Affiliated program within two to three weeks of the application submission date. Most Suggested programs will contact you three to four weeks after receipt of your application with an admissions decision.
