JCCT Speakers and Workshops
New Faculty Orientation: Each Fall the JCCT helps organize the teaching portion of the orientation for new faculty. Introducing new faculty to the role of the JCCT is an important step in supporting their development related to teaching.
Luncheon Series: Several times each year the JCCT hosts lunch presentations on topics related to teaching. Most of these presentations are given by Gettysburg College faculty members individually or in panels; occasionally, the presenter is an administrator or an outside speaker.
"In the Classroom" Discussion Series: In addition to the luncheon series, the JCCT offers opportunity for free-ranging discussion of teaching issues. The JCCT launched a new discussion series in 2006. These discussion sessions are held each semester on Friday afternoons over light snacks.
Workshops: The JCCT sponsors one major teaching workshop for faculty each May. These workshops last one or two full days. Occasionally the JCCT sponsors other workshops, either for a full day or two (e.g., during the January break or right before classes begin in August), or for a few hours. These workshops are usually led or facilitated by outside speakers. Topics vary as needs and suggestions are shared with the center.
