American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment
In 2007, Gettysburg College became a charter signatory of the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), joining dozens of other colleges and universities in the attempt of enhanced sustainability.
This pledge, signed by President Janet Morgan Riggs, makes a commitment to becoming carbon neutral in the foreseeable future. By signing this agreement the college promises to create a comprehensive sustainability plan and conduct greenhouse gas emissions inventories for all new buildings, encourage the use of public transportation, purchase EnergyStar appliances, among many more conditions.
Gettysburg College is a charter signatory of the national Presidents Climate Commitment. Member institutions commit to becoming carbon neutral through a series of directives and benchmarked modifications to both infrastructure and curriculum.
