The Painted Turtle Farm partners with the Dining Center and the recycling interns to coordinate the Compost Program. Vegetable and fruit scraps, eggshells, soil, leaves, and garden weeds are piled into compost bins to enrich the farm's soil. The program reduces the College's contribution to the waste stream, and it closes the sustainable loop. The program won state and national honors in RecycleMania's 2008 Food Service Organics competition, placing fifth in Pennsylvania and 37th nationally.
