Designed to accommodate all rising high school students, our College Prep course addresses the individual needs of each student in his or her search for the perfect college.

The main goal of the program is to remove the anxiety that can often accompany the college application process and replace it with knowledge. Students take the practice SAT and review it, write essays to real application questions, examine different types of schools to find the best-fit… its like shopping for college and thoroughly preparing for the spree! We cover everything from the application questions to eye contact at interviews to the final decision about which college to attend given each student’s strengths and interests. We empower students to choose the school that is best for them, while also giving them the tools for the job.

Students compile a binder of all their work, including college essays, a resume, sample applications and a calendar detailing their schedule for the remaining time in high school, complete with test dates, application deadlines and other important information. The binder sets the tone and pace, and organizes the necessary information for the college application process. Students work directly with the Gettysburg College Admissions Office for personalized guidance as well as an insider’s view of the application process.

• School preference - what is the right college for you?
• Application essays - writing tips and techniques
• College visits - touring campuses and asking questions
• Time management - organizing and prioritizing
• Resumes - building your resume for the application process
• Financing college - looking at scholarship opportunities and financial aid
• Test-taking - honing skills for the SAT
