Academics

A Gettysburg education is an ideal blend of structure and choice. The Gettysburg Curriculum exposes you to the breadth and richness of a liberal arts education and builds a strong foundation for work in your major field. The core stresses integrative thinking, involving the synthesis of ideas and methods from different areas of study.

When you select a major, you'll choose from 41 different majors or design an individualized major tailored to your interests. Over half of the students double major, or add a minor to their major field. Independent research and creative projects, internships, study abroad, and other experiences will add valuable dimensions to your learning.

These experiences come together to give you an education that is broad and deep, a blend of knowledge and practical experience that will serve you well in graduate school and in your career.

 The Gettysburg Curriculum
The core requirements of the Gettysburg Curriculum originated with some important questions. What is a high quality liberal arts education in and for the 21st century? What does it mean to be a liberally educated person in today's world? Given the nature of the world and the challenges that both it and you are likely to face in your lifetime, what knowledge and understanding will serve you best?
