Summer Research and Internships - Humanities

The Academy for Alternative Journalism, located at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, seeks to introduce minority students to alternative press.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has announced its Minority Undergraduate Research Assistant Program (MURAP) in social sciences, fine arts and humanties.  A small component of UNC's Summer Pre-Graduate Research Experience (see below), it seeks to aid students in developing graduate-level work and to expose them to the rigors and expectations of the graduate school environment. Morehouse School of Medicine Marketing and Communications' Summer Internship Program

Four full-time students attending a college or university will be selected for this paid 10- or 12-week program. Open to aspiring print, photography, graphic, broadcast, and multimedia journalists. Interns will assist with updating and maintaining office media lists, assist media relations' officers in handling media inquiries and organizing interviews; assist in research, writing, distribution and web updates; provide editorial copy assistance for all publications and marketing collateral; work with all departments and staff graphic designer on ads, postcards, newsletters and other materials; and assist on other projects as determined by the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. An editing and writing test is required prior to gaining employment. At the end of the program, the interns will provide written presentations about their experiences in the program. After the completion of the 10-week program (20 hrs a week minimum) the intern will receive a stipend of $800, those who complete the 12-week program (20 hrs a week minimum) will receive a stipend of $1,000. Parking will be paid by MSM.
