The Institute for International Public Policy administers training, institutional resource development, outreach and special programs designed to increase underrepresented minority involvement in international affairs.

The Public Policy & Internatonal Affairs Fellowship Program offers its Junior Summer Institutes, "an intensive seven-week summer program that focuses on preparing students for graduate programs in public and international affairs and careers as policy professionals, public administrators and other leadership roles in public service."

The Ralph Bunche Summer Institute is "a five week, academically intensive summer program designed to ...help talented minority students between their junior and senior year of college...go on to graduate school...".

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has announced its Minority Undergraduate Research Assistant Program (MURAP) in social sciences, fine arts and humanities.  A small component of UNC's Summer Pre-Graduate Research Experience (see below), it seeks to aid students in developing graduate-level work and to expose them to the rigors and expectations of the graduate school environment.
