Teresa Marie Myers
My painting philosophy is simple—a painting should look like a painting, not a photograph. To me a painting is a translation of what I see, not a literal rendition of the subject. Whether I’m painting from a model or visually expressing a story or poem I strive to be sensitive to the inner qualities of my subjects as well as their physical appearance. I devote my energy to the relationship between value and color, light and shadow—not the copying of reality.
