As I settle down beside a potter’s wheel, I am continually amazed at the possibilities that lie in front of me. A dramatic transformation takes place as my hands guide a dome of clay on the wheel. It is this change, from a mound of earth to a functional shape, which I am drawn to. Following the shaping of a piece many new decisions emerge. In my work I experiment with different textures and glazes and their role in “finishing” a piece. It is the entire process of creating pottery that keeps me engaged. Each stage offers a new set of questions, a new realm of possibilities.
