Advanced Chinese I
I teach Chinese language courses at all levels, and offer courses on modern and contemporary Chinese literature as well as Chinese film. I enjoy using my background in comparative literature to diversify and intensify my research and enrich my classes. My training includes areas such as the novel, short fiction, critical theory, existentialism, and East-West comparative aesthetics. My current research interests are contemporary Chinese writers, popular fiction (including Kungfu and romance novels), and mainland cinema. I am working on two projects for publication: a book project on the Sixth Generation directors, and a translation project for a collection of short stories by six female Chinese writers.
