Japanese Studies Major
Effective for the Class of 2010 but appropriate for the Class of 2009
- I Core (Must be taken at Gettysburg): Hist 224 or 323
- Two courses from 150, 238, 247/347, 248/348, 250/350, 340, 341. (AS 150 is recommended for first and second year students but cannot be taken by those who have studied in Japan.)
- Methods: AS 265 or AS 266
- Jpn 400-level Capstone seminar or course
- II Japanese Language: Two 300-level language courses or their equivalent (as determined by the department chair in the case of study abroad)
- III Major Electives: Three non-language electives. One course must be from each category. (See catalog or web for course options.)
- Arts and Humanities (Lit, Rel, Music, Art, Phil)
- History and Society (Econ, Hist, Soc, Mgt, Pol)
- Comparative East Asia (Specifically listed in the catalog and on the web as comparative)
Note: Of the 11 required courses, two of the non-language courses must be 300 level. Non language courses at Kansai Gaidai and Temple do not count as 300 level.
