Study Abroad Opportunities
We recommend that students study abroad for a semester or year at a Japanese University. Getysburg College is affiliated with Kansai Gaidai University, located in Hirakata City, between the business and industrial center of Osaka and the ancient capital of Kyoto. Kansai Gaidai offers instruction in Japanese language and a full range of courses on Japanese topics in English. The program at Kansai Gaidai provides many opportunities for students outside the classroom: living with a Japanese host family, field trips tcultural and historical sites, study of traditional arts, and visits to Japanese businesses. Students may also choose to attend other universities in Japan. Credit for courses taken at Kansai Gaidai may be transferred and counted towards the electives for the major and minor with departmental approval.
Gettysburg College is affiliated with a study-abroad program in Beijing jointly administered by CET Academic Programs and Capital Normal University. In addition to language study through the advanced level, the program offers a wide range of courses appropriate to the China specialization within the East Asian Studies minor.
