Study in China
The East Asia Program
In conjunction with CET and Capital Normal University in Beijing, this semester program offers students in any major the opportunity to take courses focusing on Asia generally and China specifically. All students take Chinese language from beginning (no previous language study required) through advanced levels.
Capital Normal University (CNU), a national university located in the central western part of the city, hosts CET's center. With its nearly 10,000 undergraduate students and sizable graduate population, the campus offers a vibrant community of students both from Beijing and from other parts of China. As one of China's top 100 key universities, Capital Normal University enjoys investment priority from Beijing municipality. CET students live with their Chinese roommates in a brand new, state-of-the-art foreign students' dormitory. Classrooms, faculty offices, a computer center and library are also housed in this building. Students also have full access to the academic and residential facilities provided to CNU's larger community.
Academic Program
Students will earn 4 Gettysburg course units on this program. In order to receive this, students must take a full load of courses which consists of Chinese Language in addition to two elective courses.
All students will receive credit and grades towards their Gettysburg degree by participating in this program. Grades are recorded (A-F) in the same way as classes taken at Gettysburg College.
Chinese Language - 11 hours/week (transfers as 2 course units)
All students take daily Chinese language classes, including one hour of one-on-one tutorial per week. Beginning to Advanced levels offered.
Elective Courses 3 hours/week (all taught in English, transfers as 1 course unit each)
