Dr. Kazuo Hiraizumi's areas of expertise are genetics, statistics, and biochemistry. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Environmental and Health Sciences to study the molecular genetics of gene suppression. His major research interests include population and evolutionary genetics of gene regulation, biochemical genetics of digestive enzymes, and biochemistry of catecholamines. He teaches Biostatistics and Genetics. His research interest is in the role of genetic variation in adaptive evolutionary changes, population and quantitative genetics of gene regulation, the biochemical characterization of proteinases and peptidases, and neurochemistry and the genetics of mammalian play behavior. Projects involve a number of different techniques and approaches in molecular and cell biology, genetics, biostatistics, and/or neurophysiology.
