Welcome message from the Conservatory Director honoring Dr. Kay Hoke
Dear Conservatory Community,
As we embark on a new academic year, our focus turns to the great opportunities before us—opportunities we all share to develop and inspire a new generation of students and to build upon the tremendous foundation laid here at the Sunderman Conservatory of Music.
While our Conservatory is positioned to succeed thanks to the hard work of many, I would like to take a special moment to recognize Dr. Kay Hoke for her exceptional leadership as the program’s director over the last decade.
During her tenure, Kay collaborated with numerous colleagues across campus to recruit and retain talented students, faculty, and staff, while at the same time, attracting new gifts from generous donors that have enhanced the educational experience of our students.
Kay was also instrumental in leading the requisite process for accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music—an endeavor of considerable time, energy, and expertise that ultimately has strengthened our Conservatory’s visibility and reputation.
Without a doubt, Kay has cultivated a truly vibrant music community at Gettysburg. We thank Kay for her dedicated service and wish her a wonderful retirement!
Looking ahead, I am overjoyed to join this remarkable institution. Humbled by the trust you have shown in me, I look forward to partnering with each of you to explore new possibilities and to achieve new goals. Together, I am confident we can continue to enrich our musical offerings and prepare our students to lead lives of great impact.
Thank you for all you do to make our Sunderman Conservatory of Music such a special place. Let’s have a great year!
Dr. James Day
