Prof. Paul Austerlitz plays in Finland at the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival

On July 8, Professor Paul Austerlitz played in Finland at the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival with the World Mänkeri Orchestra, a Finnish band that blends African-American traditions of improvised music with Finnish music traditionally played on hand-made birch-bark horns.  This was an especially rewarding experience for Dr. Austerlitz, because he has conducted extensive ethnomusicological research on this band and on the festival.
