We started our morning off with the most important meal of the day, breakfast at McDonald's. From there, we headed out to the first day's fight to recap and spend some time on the good professors' specialty, the German regiments of the 11th Corps. After a brief review here, the group headed to the Peach Orchard which figured so prominently on July 2, 1863. At the orchard, we gathered our bearings and listened to the story of Sickles' salient and the start of Longstreet's assault. From the Peach Orchard, we "hopped" to the Sickles' wounding monument for some good fun; I mean after all, it is Sickles the incredible! Finishing up our fun near the Trostle Barn, the group headed to our second to last stop before lunch, The Triangular Field and Devil's Den. Our tour guides for the Wheatfield were primarily Ed Vogt and I as we explained the actions of multiple regiments, brigades, and divisions, including my specialty at this part of the field, Caldwell's division.

Eating at the Appleford for lunch again we did not miss an opportunity to review the events of the morning by watching the movie Gettysburg again. With lunch over, the group headed back out onto the field and towards Little Round Top. Professor Keller read us many after action reports written by the illustrious Joshua Chamberlin on the site of the extreme left of the Union Army. Trudging north the other slope of LRT we then heard the stories from other regiments on the rocky hill including the 155th PA. After making a brief stop at the site of the 1st Minnesota and listening to their contribution and/or slaughter we made our way to our last stop of the day, East Cemetery Hill. The group finished up by hearing about the 73rd PA and the action of Avery's and Hay's men and the extent to which they made it up the hill to Wiedrich's guns. As the sun began to set behind the rolling hills of Adams County, we said our goodbyes to Professor Keller and headed back to the Appleford. You will definitely want to check back next because we tackle day three and Pickett's Charge with Scott Hartwig!!
