Discovering Economics class travels to the Army War College & Harrisburg University to explore virtual worlds

Prof. Rimvydas Baltaduonis’ first year seminar, An Experimental Avatar – Discovering Economics, recently traveled to the Army War College (Carlisle, Pa.) and Harrisburg University to explore how virtual worlds are used in advancing research and technological applications. In this image, the group is pictured in front of the Virtusphere at Harrisburg University. Students, as well as Prof. Baltaduonis, took turns experiencing the Virtusphere, a versatile simulation platform comprised of a 10-foot hollow ball made of ABS plastic. Stepping inside the ball, participants safely traverse real and imagined 3-D places, such as the human nervous system, a battleground, a crime scene, an alien planet, and even a data set.
