Cooperating teachers are a key cog in the machine of student teaching; without an effective coop, even the most dedicated student teacher can fall far short of his or her potential. The best cooperating teachers are experts--they know their subject matter extraordinarily well, understand how students learn, and have a repertoire of strategies to draw upon to ensure that students learn what they want to teach them. They are also flexible, understanding, supportive, and sympathetic to the needs of novice teachers.

This page is under construction; please visit again soon for more information about our coops, including how to apply to become one, and for more information about what it means to be a cooperating teacher for a student teacher from Gettysburg College.
