Education Semester
Application Procedure:
1. Obtain application information from the Education Office, 106 Weidensall
2. Submit your application to your major advisor by September 10 of the year prior to your desired student teaching date for departmental approval.
3. Submit your completed application along with your major department's recommendation, to the Education Department by October 15.
4. Each application will be reviewed by the Teacher Education Committee, a body composed of faculty members from the various major departments as well as faculty from the Education Department.
5. The Chair of the Education Department will then inform each candidate about their admission to or deferral/rejection from the Education Semester.

- 60 Hours of pre-student teaching observation (if applying in fall of 2008 or later, will need 60 hours)
- A minimum grade point average of 3.0 and 3.0 in the major
- 3.0 overall and in the sequence for elementary
- 3.0 overall and in the major secondary
- Recommendations from the major department.
- Passing scores on Required Praxis Exams: Reading, Writing, Mathematics.
- Also considered are your demonstration of professional tact
- Demonstrated professional traits such as responsibility, integrity, timeliness, enthusiasm for teaching and learning in the education program.
- Excellent communication skills.
