Julie E. Keenan received her B.A. in English and Education from the University of Southampton, U.K., and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland at College Park. Before coming to Gettysburg, she was a Senior Lecturer at Maryland, and then for three years a Visiting Professor at Franklin and Marshall College. Her teaching interests include medieval and renaissance literature, revenge tragedy, the literature of colonialism, and literary theory. Her current research focuses on the relationship between emblems and the developing scientific discourse in early seventeenth-century Italy.
