Joanne Myers received her B.A. in English from the Tutorial College of Ohio University and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago. Before coming to Gettysburg, she was a Lilly Postdoctoral Fellow in the Humanities at Valparaiso University. Her teaching interests include the literature and culture of the eighteenth century in Britain, the history of the novel, and literature and philosophy. She has published an article on the role of the body in late-eighteenth-century sentimental discourse, and her current research focuses on the effects of scepticism on sociability in early eighteenth-century Britain.
