Environmental Studies

Welcome to the Environmental Studies Department!

Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary department designed to provide you with the ability to analyze complex environmental issues from a variety of perspectives -- the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities.

The department offers an extraordinary range of opportunities for hands-on experience. Many courses quite literally immerse you in local terrestrial, freshwater, and marine habitats.  Other programs take you abroad for first-hand investigation of environmental problems facing countries around the globe. Closer to home, students meet with actual decisionmakers in Washington, D.C., to discuss environmental policy.

The program prepares students for graduate study and careers in environmental science, environmental management, law, public policy, urban planning, positions with nonprofit organizations, and other fields.
