Rutherford V. Platt, Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies and Director of the GIS laboratory, specializes in spatial models of human-environment interactions. His current NSF-sponsored work focuses on modeling wildfire hazard and land use change in the western U.S. Rud's theoretical interests include: the role of uncertainty in spatial decision support systems and the link between structure and function in complex human-environment landscapes. He also enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling, photography, and especially being a dad.
