Prof. Kley received his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin with a dissertation on communist and anarchist writing on work during the Weimar Republic, entitled "All Work and No Play? Labor, Literature, and Industrial Modernity on the Weimar Left". He is currently working on a series of articles dealing with the role of work in contemporary (post-industrial) German society and culture. He is also working on a bilingual novel with the title "Scheinroman - a Note from Germany" in which readers will follow the adventures of a 100 Mark bill and, by doing so, circulate through the confusing landscape of Germany at the time of its unification in 1990.
