Janelle Papay '10 is one of five Gettysburg College students from the Class of 2010 to have received grants from the United States Department of State's Fulbright Program to learn, teach, and conduct research in nations around the world. Papay (German and Globalization Studies) received an ETA (English Teaching Assistantship) to Germany. Besides assisting in teaching middle to high school students English, she will also be volunteering with a Conservation organization which will help her arrange field trips for her students to various parks and recreation areas. She will use these venues to encourage them to use their English skills while they take part in service-learning activities like train maintenance and habitat restoration. She will employ the skills she learned while serving as a GRAB leader at Gettysburg. She plans to have a career in experiential education, perhaps on an international level.
