Come to Gettysburg College this summer and join in our inaugural World History Insititute as we explore the topic of "Conceptualizing World History." There, you will meet with some of the finest scholars of world history, get loads of ideas from mater teachers, and develop your own approaches to world history.
This year, we are exploring that most basic question, "What is World History?"
For one week we will bring together three of the top scholars of world history in the United States, along with experienced secondary world history teachers, learning resource specialists, our own faculty, and a small group of teachers new to teaching world history. Through informal discussion and formal presentations, our goal is to create a learning community that will help you understand world history as a field of research and teaching, show you some effective strategies for presenting it in the classroom, equip you with resources that will keep your students' interest - and all this in the relaxed, collegial atmosphere of the Gettysburg College campus.
