Has conducted research in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America; recent book on the health impact of poverty and economic crisis, numerous articles on the economics of HIV/AIDS in Africa and Latin America, and a new book, AIDS and the Ecology of Poverty. Teaches international, development, health, and history of economic thought. Secretary and Board Member, International AIDS Economics Network.
