Africana Studies

 For students from all backgrounds, Africana Studies at Gettysburg College offers a profound perspective on the world through the lens of the distinctive experiences and contributions of peoples of African descent.

This interdisciplinary program spans the spectrum of the humanities and social sciences, integrating courses from areas including history, English, economics, music, philosophy, and religion.

As students examine the complex societies and rich histories of peoples of African descent, they sharpen skills such as critical thinking, investigation, and communication, which are crucial to careers in fields such as education, journalism, law, business, international relations, politics, psychology, publishing, and social work.
