Political Science
Offered as: Major , Minor
Taking full advantage of the College's proximity to both Washington, D.C., and the state capital of Harrisburg, Gettysburg's political science major and minor programs open the door to understanding contemporary politics.
A diverse curriculum examines modern political ideologies and their historical roots, global conflict, feminist political theory, electoral politics, how democracies function, the politics of poverty, and many other issues of historical and contemporary significance. Many students design and carry out independent research projects on these or other topics, under the supervision of a faculty member.
Through study in Washington and around the world, close collaboration with faculty members, a far-flung network of internships, and a wide range of campus activities, Gettysburg's political science students gain understanding of power relationships and how resources are allocated by domestic, foreign, and international political systems.
