East Asian Studies
Offered as: Minor
In Gettysburg's interdisciplinary East Asian Studies minor, students choose either a Japanese or Chinese specialization, taking at least two semesters of the appropriate language. However, wide-ranging course offerings extend into many other regions of Asia.
Study-abroad opportunities abound. Gettysburg College maintains a cooperative arrangement with Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata City, between the business and industrial center of Osaka and the ancient capital of Kyoto. Students may choose to attend other universities in Japan. Students also live, study, and volunteer in China at Gettysburg College's affiliate institution, Capital Normal University in Beijing.
The minor complements any major, offering insight into some of the world's oldest cultures and a region of increasing global significance.
