Degrees: BA summa cum laude, and Phi Beta Kappa, in economics from Dickinson College, MBA from Lehigh University, PhD in business administration from University of Minnesota.
Dr. Gilbert is the David M. Levan Professor of Ethics and Management. He received the Class of 1956 Lectureship for Inspirational Teaching at Bucknell University in 1995. Dr. Gilbert has authored two books about ethics and corporate strategy. He has co-authored three other books on management, strategy, and ethics. Dr. Gilbert locates the discipline of management thinking in a context of American history and politics. For this reason, his reading lists regularly include novels about American society. Dr. Gilbert's current research addresses the meaning that competitors can derive from competition. He studies norms of competition and histories of competition.
