Paul Carrick’s current research focuses on connections between human values, emerging technologies, and environmental philosophy. He is currently working on a book entitled Environmental Ethics and Human Suffering which explores pragmatic approaches to achieving sustainable futures within democratic societies. He is the author of Medical Ethics in the Ancient World (Georgetown, 2001), Medical Ethics in Antiquity: Philosophical Perspectives on Abortion and Euthanasia, (Kluwer, 1985), and over a dozen articles, chapters, or reviews. His most recent publication is “Deep Ecology and End-of-Life Care” appearing in Contemporary Bioethics: A Reader with Cases (Oxford, 2009, in press).
