First Year Seminars and Philosophy & Interdisciplinary Studies
First Year Seminars
Each fall the Department teaches First Year Seminars for incoming students. Recent seminars include Prozac for the People, taught by Professor Jennifer Hansen; Beyond Terrorism, taught by Professor Rajmohan Ramanathapillai; Einstein in Wonderland, taught by Professor Steven Gimbel and Cosomopolitanism and Identity, taught by Professor Daniel DeNicola.
Philosophy & Interdisciplinary Studies
The Department contributes several courses to interdisciplinary programs, including the new Neuroscience program, Environmental Studies, Women's Studies, Peace and Justice Studies, and African American Studies, and strives to foster philosophical dialogue on the many complexities, ethical dilemmas, and profound transformations of our world.
