Updates from the Class of 2012
- Seven philosophy majors and one minor from the Class of 2012 were elected to Phi Beta Kappa—a banner year! They are: Brian Engelsma, Liam George, Aimee Griffin, Jonathan Hibshman, Robert Kellert, Evan Singer, Bradley Smith, and Sara Tower (minor).
- Of the 28 senior majors, the following students earned Departmental Honors: Gabrielle Cossolini, Brian Engelsma, Liam George, Aimee Griffin, Jonathan Hibshman, Robert Kellert, Andrew Lee, Kaitlyn Roman, Lucien Ryan, Evan Singer, Caleb Sisak, and Bradley Smith.
- Several majors received awards at Spring Honors Day:
- The Chan Coulter Prize in Philosophy was awarded to: Evan Singer.
- The Suzanne E. Clark Award was given to: Caleb Sisak.
- Anna Myavec received the Karl J. Mattson Service Award for her contributions to public service.
- Aimee Griffin was a winner in the 2012 Elie Weisel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest. She examined the ethics of euthanasia in the context of her own cousin’s vegetative state after a car accident. Her essay, “Victims of Progress: Examining the Collateral Damage of Medical Technology,” earned the third prize of $1,000. This is Gettysburg’s second winner in the last four years. Read more
