What does it mean to "understand ignorance"?  How helpful is our mainstream theory of knowledge (epistemology) in understanding ignorance?  Is knowledge the only epistemic value?  Might there be virtues of ignorance?  Wheat does it mean to be part of an epistemic community?

Prof. Dan DeNicola will discuss issues related to his current research on ignorance and our metaphors for understanding it.
