"Opportunity is missed by most people
because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
- Thomas Alva Edison
"The purpose of models is not to fit the data but to sharpen the questions." - Samuel Karlin
Students interested in physics have a wide range of ways to become more involved with this life-long adventure, including - but certainly not limited to - summer research; work within the Physics Department as lab assistants, graders, research assistants, and Hatter Planetarium assistants; building/repairing equipment in the machine shop; participation in the Gettysburg College chapter of the Society of Physics Students; and exploration of the universe through the Observatory.
Take a look at the links on the left for additional information, and if you have any questions and/or suggestions, please don't hesitate to speak directly with physics faculty. We welcome your questions, ideas, and curiosity!
Also, keep in mind that the folks at the Center for Career Development are available to help you, as well.
