The Psychology Department Smoke Colloquium Series presents Dr. Andrew Elliot, Professor of Psychology in the Department of Clinical & Social Psychology at the University of Rochester.  Dr. Elliot's will lecture on "The color of achievement and sexual motivation."  Please join us in welcoming Dr. Elliot on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in Bowen Auditorium, McCreary Hall 115.

Abstract: Color is typically thought of in terms of aesthetics.  I have developed a model of color and psychological functioning that views color as a context-specific signal that triggers important motivational processes and associated behavior.  In my talk, I will overview the model, and then present supportive data from experiments on the color red in two domains, the achievement domain, and the sexual domain.
