Awards and Honors
AWARDS AND PRIZES
The Religion Department offers the Oscar W. Carlson Memorial Award in the fall semester. The family of Oscar W. Carlson created this award, which is given to a senior who demonstrates excellent academic achievement through his or her junior year in three or more courses in the Department of Religion, including two courses above the 100- level.
The Nicholas Prize in Religion is offered in the spring semester. Created by The Rev. Dr. J. C. Nicholas (1894), it is awarded to the senior who has done the best work in advanced courses in religion.
Besides these two prizes, Departmental honors are conferred on exceptional students at the time of graduation. Normally, students must have a 3.5 GPA in religion in order to be considered for honors.
Congratulations to our 2007-2008 recipients for these awards
