Canadian Museum of Civilization
An extensive set of virtual museum exhibits from one of the premier anthropology museums in this hemisphere.
Smithsonian Institution
Home page for our venerable national museum complex, with numerous links to the Institution's research resources, museums and exhibitions, calendar of events and electronic maps, and more.
National Anthropological Archives
An on-line catalog of the anthropological holdings of the Smithsonian Institution and major anthropological associations.  The archives include artifacts, manuscripts, photos, films, etc. from 1846 to the present.  The public may request copies of manuscripts and photos for a small fee.

Northwestern University Ethnographic Field School
A summer school program for anthropology students to conduct fieldwork projects in Navajo or Spanish American communities in New Mexico.
Baja California Field School
A summer ethnographic field program in the town of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, administered by Arizona State University and the Escuela Normal Estatal in Ensenada.

Professional organizations


American Anthropological Association
The major professional organization of anthropologists in the U.S., including subsections in archaeology, cultural anthropology, physical anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and applied anthropology.
Society for Applied Anthropology

An organization of practicing anthropologists (including a student group) who specialize in using their skills to solve social problems or to achieve practical results.  Another useful website associated with the Society is the Applied Anthropology Computer Network
(ANTHAP).
American Association of Physical Anthropologists

The main U.S. organization of physical (or biological) anthropologists, who study the "adaptations, variability, and evolution of human beings and their living and fossil relatives ...in the context of human culture and behavior".
Society for American Archaeology

An international organization of anthropological archaeologists who specialize in the archaeological heritage of North, Central, and South America.
American Ethnological Society

The principle organization of U.S. cultural anthropologists (ethnologists), who study the cultural contexts of human societies of contemporary times or the recent historical past.
