Academic Focus: Colonial and 19th Century Latin American Studies

Alvaro Kaempfer scholarly research and publications aim to the intersections of history, politics and culture within narratives of transition from Colonialism to Modernity in Latin America. His current research focuses on 19th Century Latin American writings dealing with the consolidation of postcolonial states through ethnic, social, and urban cleansing. He is also working on imaginaries of Modernity in a corpus of Ibero-American economic texts from the last decade of the XVIII century.
