Greetings from the Chair -- Chris Kauffman
Theatre has a long tradition at Gettysburg College dating back to the formation of the student drama club, The Owl and Nightingale Players, in 1914. There are many alums working in the theatre including Charlotte Wilcox, Broadway producer; Rick Holmes, Broadway Actor; Scott Metzger, Senior Talent Agent, Paradigm Agency; John Adams, playwright and producer; Mary Naden, Certified Alexander Technique Teacher & Voice and Performance Coach; Kathy Rosseter, Head of Acting, M.F.A. program at the New School; and Susan Blume Broadway scenic painter, among others. Gettysburg alums have gone on the graduate programs in theatre at many prestigious institutions, including: The Yale School of Drama, New York University Graduate Acting Program, The New School for Drama, Catholic University, Brandeis University, Villanova University, and in the U.K at Goldsmiths University and the Royal Welsh Academy of Drama.
While many Theatre Arts alums are currently working at such prestigious theatrical institutions as the McCarter Theatre, the People’s Light Theatre, the Broadway Theatre League, and Walt Disney Inc., others are using their study in theatre as a foundation for careers in law, education, government, finance, and non-profit foundations.
