Department Learning Outcomes

Intended Learning Outcomes for the Major

Students who major in Theatre Arts will be able to demonstrate

1.  a thorough understanding of discipline-specific research tools

2.  a familiarity with the major discourses and practices of the discipline of theatre

3.  the ability to critically analyze and assess works of theatre: both text and performance

4.  oral and written skills that illustrate critical thinking within the discipline

5.  the ability to apply learning from specific studio areas of performing, directing, playwriting, design or production to projects within and beyond the discipline

6.  skills necessary to prepare them for graduate study in theatre-related programs, as well as for internships, apprenticeships and employment within and beyond the discipline.

7. the synthesis of their learning through a Senior Capstone Project, uniting oral, written, research and studio skills.

 

Intended Learning Outcomes for the Minor

Students who minor in Theatre Arts will be able to demonstrate
